Taoist Pantheon

Here is a collection of articles introducing deities in the Taoist Pantheon.
This is a WIP as we add more articiles into the list.

Kindly note that we adopt a broad defination of "Taoism" as some of the deities can be considered as Buddhist but also worshipped by Taoists.

Guan Gong, one of the most respective deities and the embodiment of loyalty, righteous, bravery and benevolence (忠义勇仁).

long weiSaint Long Wei, 龙尾圣王
He Ye Yun, an anti-Mongol leader who lived in Teochew after being defeated by the Ming Emperor Hong Wu. He served the Teochews and after his passing, he was remembered by Teowchews as Saint Long Wei.

The God of Wealth who can bless people with luck, wealth and economic opportunities. Very commonly seen during the Chinese New Year period in posters, as toys and new year decorations.

A Deity in charged of love between same sex couple. A counter part to Yue Lao, old man under the moon.

108 brothersHainan 108 Brothers
Patron deities of Hainanese especially overseas Hainanese around the world. A product of late Qing Chinese migration.

caow eng bio Goddess Shui Wei, 水尾圣娘
A Hainan goddess and patron deities of Hainanese. Her temples and shrines can be found in all Hainanese comminities.

Three Loyal Kings of the Song Dynasty
大宋三忠王

Three loyal ministers of the Song who fought to the end against the Mongol army.

The deity in charged of marriage - match maker deity. Temples are dedicated to him and devotees ask for help in their search for love.

The worship of the 9 stars around the Big dipper who are children of female deity, Dou Mu, 斗母.

fu lu shouFu Lu Shou, 福禄寿
The three stars representing the most important aspirations that all humans from emperors to common people hope for.

A young boy who braved life and death challlenges to become one of the most popular child deity in the Taoist patheon.

guan yinGuan Yin, 观音
Guan Yin, 观音, or Avalokiteśvara is one of the most popular and well known female goddess in Asia and probably in the world. Guan Yin is the Bodhisattva of Great Compassion in Mahayana Buddhism and also worshiped by Taoists.

monkey godMonkey God, 齐天大圣
The Monkey God is one of the most popular Taoist deities and many of his adventures are recorded in Journey to the West.
